Kickoff to Commencement
Kickoff to Commencement is set for May 8 at the Joe Johnson/John Ward Pedestrian Mall. The event is held to honor all spring and summer graduates. A committee of students and staff has been working diligently to plan this event that we hope will be enjoyable for all.
The evening will begin with Aloha Oe, planned by the Student Government Association. The historic ceremony was revived last year by SGA and was a tremendous success. The candlelight ceremony for seniors signifies their continuing journey and reminds them of their pledge to serve the university and their community. All graduates are encouraged to attend and gather at the Torchbearer at 6:30 p.m. to be part of this meaningful ceremony.
After the ceremony, the program and concert will get underway at 7 p.m. at the Pedestrian Mall. A casual dinner will be served and graduates will receive special gifts along with a few other surprises.
At 8 p.m., our featured entertainer, the Memphis-based band Ingram Hill, will take the stage for an outdoor concert in the Humanities Amphitheater, providing the perfect opportunity to relax on the lawn with friends and family. The event will end at 9 pm with a grand finale.
Please make plans to attend this special event. Please RSVP to let us know you're coming.
