Who planned Kickoff to Commencement?
A committee of staff and students planned the event. The plans incorporated feedback from graduates, their families and university employees.
Where do I park?
Parking is available in the G-10 garage adjacent to the Thompson Boling Arena. All commuter and non-commuter lots are also open for students and their guests.
What can I expect?
Kickoff to Commencement will be an informal event for graduates and their families to celebrate the exciting time of graduation. Dress for the event is casual.
After the Aloha Oe ceremony, the festivities begin at the Arena with a welcome by Chancellor Jimmy G. Cheek, followed by a short speaking program and the Sister Hazel concert.
Is there a limit on the number of guests I can bring?
There is no limit on the number of guests.
Is there a charge?
Admission is free. All graduates will receive a voucher for their dinner. Concession vendors will be open for families and guests to purchase a meal or snacks. Only cash is accepted. An ATM is located on the concourse.
Is this a graduation ceremony?
No, this is not a graduation ceremony. Each college has a traditional commencement planned for its graduates that we encourage everyone to participate in.

Where can individuals who have a handicap placard park?
There will be reserved parking in the G-10 parking garage..
Will there be reserved seating for individuals who use wheelchairs, or who have mobility disabilities?
Thompson-Boling Arena has wheelchair seating available which wil be open for the Kickoff to Commencement crowd. To access the seating, enter at the Arena Dining entrance to the Thompson Boling Arena on the street level (Phillip Fulmer Drive). To the right of Arena Dining is an elevator, take the elevator to the concourse level. Ushers will be on hand for directions.
Will there be an interpreter at the event?
An interpreter will be present during the Aloha Oe ceremony and all the speakers including the Sister Hazel performance. Spaces will be reserved for individuals who use sign language interpreters in front of the stage. Once the performance starts, those spaces may be released for others to use.
