Commencement is always a special occasion, but this year will be especially memorable because we are awarding honorary degrees to two outstanding Tennesseans—renowned journalist John Seigenthaler and opera singer Mary Costa, known as the voice of Sleeping Beauty.
Seigenthaler will receive an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree at the College of Law commencement at 5:00 p.m. on May 10.
Costa will receive an Honorary Doctor of Humane and Musical Letters at the College of Arts and Sciences commencement at 9:00 a.m. on May 10.
Both ceremonies will be held in Thompson-Boling Arena, and will be the fifth and sixth honorary degrees UT has awarded. Previous honorary degrees were awarded to Howard H. Baker Jr., Dolly Parton, Al Gore, and Charles O. “Chad” Holliday.
For more about our plans to honor Seigenthaler and Costa, see Tennessee Today.

Graduates, we want photos of your favorite UT memories. We'll add them to our Flickr account and post them on our website!

Many of the commencement ceremonies will be webcast, and UTTV will also broadcast select ceremonies on campus channel 65 and Comcast Digital channel 194.
You can find links to the individual webcasts in the schedule grid to the left.
