Wikileaks: Transparency or Menace to Global Governance?

Wikileaks: Transparency or Menace to Global Governance?
Tues., March 8, 6 p.m.
Toyota Auditorium

UT Journalism professor, Dwight Teeter, will moderate a panel of experts as we look at WikiLeaks.  Does the existence of entities, like Wikileaks, change the way the government does business?   Should policy makers close the curtains and leave the public in the dark once again?  Our panel will discuss these issues and what this means for future policy formation and diplomatic relationships.

The remaining panelists include:   Victor Ashe, former Ambassador to Poland, whose private cables were posted on WikiLeaks; Ben Bates, Professor, UTK Journalism & Electronic Media, on what Wikileaks and other collaborative and citizen news sites means for transparency and the future of journalism;  David Brule,  Assistant Professor,  UTK Political Science, on the effect of the leaked cables on US foreign relations; and Jack McElroy, Editor, Knoxville News Sentinel.  Free and open to the public.
