Human Rights Week: Death Penalty Abolition

The University of Tennessee at Knoxville's chapter of the international human rights group Amnesty International will host its second annual Human Rights Week April 2-5, 2012. The week will focus on death penalty abolition, religious freedom and the right to education for religious minorities in Iran, LGBTQ rights in the South, and immigrant and undocumented people's rights.

The week will conclude with Death Penalty Abolition Day. This will feature a death penalty photography exhibit by photojournalist Scott Langley, who documents the preparation for an execution, protesters outside, and the aftermath-everything but the execution itself. The exhibit can be viewed all week in Hodges Library 2nd floor and the Black Cultural Center Gallery and Lobby.
