BCPC Presents: Political Awareness - Bakari Sellers

Elected in 2006 to the South Carolina House of Representatives at the age of 22, Bakari Sellers is an attorney, one of the youngest State Representatives, and the youngest black elected official in the United States. Viewing himself not as a politician, but a public servant, Sellers is a passionate keynote speaker on civil rights, equality, education, and faith. The Black Cultural Programming Committee has selected Bakari T. Sellers as the speaker for its Political Awareness lecture that will be held on Monday, October 22, 2012 at 7:00 PM in The Carolyn P. Brown Memorial University Center. The purpose of the lecture will be to inspire activism and involvement in local, state, and national government before and beyond the upcoming election. A reception will follow.
