The College of Business is sponsoring a two-day training session for Provalis text analysis software QDA Miner and Wordstat on Tuesday, May 7th and Wednesday, May 8th. This training is free and open to the UT community. This qualitative analysis software offers advanced computer assistance for coding and report writing, as well as statistical analysis features. These programs are UT-supported software. Before the seminar you will need to install both QDA Miner and Wordstat (Provalis Research software) from UT's software distribution site: https://web.dii.utk.edu/softwaredistribution. You also can read more specifics about this software at www.provalisreserach.com.
Provalis software developer Normand Peladeau will be conducting these training sessions from 8:30 am to 11:30, 1:00 to 5:30 on Tuesday, May 7 (QDA Miner, more inductive text coding) and Wednesday, May 8 (Wordstat, more dictionary-driven text analysis).
The May 7th session, which will focus on QDA Miner, will be held in Haslam 203 from 8:30 am until 2:30, then after a short break we will reconvene in Haslam 401 from 2:30-the end of the first day of training.
The May 8th session, which will focus more on Wordstat program, will be held all day in Haslam 203.
This interactive, hands-on presentation moves quickly from very basic issues to advanced features. Several UT faculty (who were very experienced on this software) attended a similar training session with Mr. Peladeau two years ago, and they found the tips and advanced features that were covered invaluable to their research.
If you plan to attend, please let Anne Smith know (firstname.lastname@example.org; 974-1670), but registration is NOT reequired. (We are just trying to give the presenter an idea of how many people will be there!) Bring your computer with the software loaded to the seminar.
