Students for Justice in Palestine and UT's Center for the Study of Youth and Political Conflict are pleased to invite you to "Occupation, Siege, and the Health Crisis in the Gaza Strip" presented by Mahmoud Daher of the World Health Organization. Since 2007, Israeli authorities have continued to impose a strict blockade on the Gaza Strip, which has exacerbated living conditions and led over seventy percent of the population to aid dependence. A primary concern of the international community as a result of the blockade is insufficient medical care and resources for the Palestinian people. During his talk, Dr. Daher will discuss these concerns in further detail as well as the World Health Organization's role in alleviating the health crisis in the Gaza Strip.
Dr. Daher is Interim Head of the World Health Organization (WHO) Office in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (headquartered in East Jerusalem) and Head of the WHO Sub-Office in the Gaza Strip. Dr. Daher was born, raised, and continues to live in the Gaza Strip with his wife and seven children. He will speak at 6:00pm, September 13th, in the University Center Shiloh Room.
Refreshments will be provided.
