Mel Bartholomew, founder of Square Foot Gardening, and Victoria Boudman, CEO of the Square Foot Gardening Foundation, will join the University of Tennessee Gardens as the keynote speakers for the UT Gardens Fall Symposium: Incredible Edibles. This symposium will be held on Friday, Sept. 28 and Saturday, Sept. 29.
On Sept. 28 a Harvest Moon Farm-to-Table dinner will be held on the UT Gardens Friendship Plaza where attendees can listen to a keynote address by Mel Bartholomew and purchase autographed copies of his new book All New Square Foot Gardening, enjoy a great meal and learn about the local farmers who contributed to the meal. Saturday, Sept. 29, a day-long symposium will be held at the Hollingsworth Auditorium on the UT Agricultural Campus, followed by an edible plant sale from 4 to 6 p.m. on the Gardens Friendship Plaza.
Participants will learn the basics of square foot gardening from its founder and get additional edible gardening tips from local gardening experts. Square foot gardening is a revolutionary garden technique that allows gardeners to grow more in smaller spaces. All attendees will receive a 10 percent discount off their purchases at the edible plant sale. Please note, however, that this symposium does not provide for Square Foot Gardening teacher certification.
