Speaker: Saree Makdisi, Professor of English and Comparative Literature, University of California, Los Angeles
Professor Makdisi is the author of Romantic Imperialism (Cambridge, 1998), William Blake and the Impossible History of the 1790s (Chicago, 2003), and Palestine Inside Out: An Everyday Occupation (Norton, 2008). He is completing work on two forthcoming books, Making England Western: Occidentalism, Race, and Imperial Culture (Chicago, 2013) and The Cambridge Introduction to William Blake. He co-edited The Arabian Nights in Historical Context (Oxford, 2008) and Marxism Beyond Marxism (Routledge, 1996). Makdisi is the co-editor of the journal Nineteenth-Century Literature.
