High-performance Computing Workshop: RDAV Presents ParaView and R for Making Sense of Your Data at Min Kao Building

The National Institute for Computational Sciences will offer on March 26 "RDAV Presents ParaView and R for Making Sense of Your Data," the second in a series of three distinct one-day workshops to enhance the skills of students and researchers in various areas in the wide field of high-performance computing. This in-person workshop is free of charge and will be held at the Min H. Kao Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Building on the campus of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

ParaView expert and contributor Burlen Loring will headline a day of instruction from the Remote Data Analysis and Visualization (RDAV) project. Other instructors from the project will present valuable instruction on using the R statistical package with large amounts of data on high-performance computing systems.

ParaView is an open-source, multiple-platform application for interactive, scientific visualization. ParaView users can quickly build visualizations to analyze their data using qualitative and quantitative techniques. The data exploration can be done interactively in 3D or programmatically using ParaView's batch processing capabilities.

Registration for the workshop is through the National Science Foundation's XSEDE (Extreme Science and Engineering Discovery Environment) training system, which will require a quick-and-easy XSEDE portal registration if the participant is not already in the system. After logging in to their XSEDE portal accounts, participants can register for the workshops or access the Course Calendar by way of the Training link on the XSEDE portal site navigation bar.
