Nature and Environment in Modern Germany: A Difficult History

On Thursday, March 7 from 4:30pm to 5:45 pm, Professor David Blackbourn, Cornelius Vanderbilt Distinguished Chair of History at Vanderbilt University, will deliver the keynote address of the 6th annual Southeast German Studies Workshop, which will take place at UT on March 7 and 8. The topic of Professor Blackbourn's talk is "Nature and Environment in Modern Germany: A Difficult History." The talk will take place in McClung Museum Auditorium. It is open to the public and will be followed by a reception.

Professor Blackbourn is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, a Corresponding Fellow of the British Academy, President of the Friends of the German Historical Institute Washington, and a member of the editorial board of the journal Past and Present. He has written on a wide range of subjects within the field of German history since the eighteenth century and his work has been supported by fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, among others.
