TITLE: Finite Element Methods for Fourth Order Variational Inequalities
ABSTRACT: Fourth order obstacle problems are examples of variational inequalities whose numerical numerical analysis is more subtle than that of second order problems. In this talk we will introduce a general framework for finite element methods for this problem. We will discuss error estimates, extensions and applications. Some numerical results are also provided to validate the theoretical results.
