Sociology Film Series Presents: A Sociologist at the Movies
Please join us for a viewing of Blue Velvet. With the discovery of a severed ear, Jeffery Beaumont (Kyle Maclachlan) is thrown into a criminal underworld which parallels his peaceful, idealistic town. Through the tension between these two worlds, idealistic and underworld, order and chaos, light and dark, filmmaker David Lynch sheds a light on the way these world's co-dependency, not only in the world of Jeffery Beaumont, but in the world that we, ourselves, occupy. This 1986 film earned David Lynch his second Academy Award nomination for Best Director. This event is open to the UT community.
