Design Downtown Studio First Friday Reception
Downtown Studio Kicks Off First Friday Events, 5:30-8:30 p.m., Friday, September 6, at the UT Downtown Studio located at 500 South Gay Street.
This is the first exhibition reception by the College of Architecture and Design in its new display space at the Downtown Studio, the urban design studio of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
The exhibit, Design. Build. Evaluate. was envisioned by architecture students Reid Cimala, Haley Allen and Joseph Wessels. It showcases the design projects brought to reality by university design students, including one of the nation's most sustainable projects, the New Norris House, and the Haiti Project, an effort which has constructed a school and medical facilities in rural Haiti.
The gallery space will continue to showcase various design works throughout the year. Upcoming fall exhibits include 3D printed homewares and furniture, computer- and hand-developed textiles, and an installation from innovative furniture company, Blu Dot.
