UT Science Forum - Exploring the Asteroid Vesta: NASA's Dawn Mission
The UT Science Forum, presented by Quest Magazine, offers a weekly lecture on current science, medical, or technology developments. On September 27, 2013, Dr. Hap McSween, Chancellor's Professor of Earth and Planetary Sciences, will speak on "Exploring the Asteroid Vesta: NASA's Dawn Mission" from 12 noon to 1 p.m.
The Dawn spacecraft has completed its orbital investigation of asteroid Vesta and is now en route to asteroid Ceres. These are the two most massive asteroids, and their properties provide an interesting view of the diversity of planetary building blocks.
The Science Forum is free and open to the public. Location: Thompson-Boling Arena Dining room C-D. Bring your lunch or purchase it from the Arena. Contact: Amanda Womac, Amanda@HellbenderPress.org or (865) 522-6527 or Dr. Mark Littmann, littmann@utk.edu or (865)974-8156.
