UT Science Forum -- 3D Printing: The Next Generation of Manufacturing
The UT Science Forum presented by Quest offers a weekly lecture on current science, medical, or technology developments.
Dr. Chad Duty, Group Leader, Deposition Science & Technology Group from Oak Ridge National Laboratory, will speak on "3D Printing: The Next Generation of Manufacturing."
3-D printing is an additive manufacturing technology that builds a three –dimensional object layer by layer. Each layer is a thinly-sliced, horizontal cross –section of the object; each layer stacks up until the desired object is completed, or printed. Additive manufacturing means there is no block to cut or drill down to the desired size; there is no wasted material.
The Science Forum is free and open to the public.
Bring your lunch or purchase it from the Arena.
