TITLE: Global Attractors As A Road Map To Dynamics, or So You Want To Determine What's Attractive
ABSTRACT: In this talk we will discuss the concept of global attractors, and how they may be used to obtain a great deal of qualitative information about solutions of partial differential equations. I will illustrate how these objects are obtained for different types of problems, from the elementary to the more advanced, and what they can tell us about various mathematical models and applications. We will discuss some of the current open problems relating to these objects.
