TITLE: "Linearized Boundary-Value Problems in Elasticity"
ABSTRACT: The linearized equations of elasticity are considered. These are in the form of boundary-value problems of second order elliptic systems with non-Dirichlet boundary conditions on bounded domains. In particular, we present the definitions of ellipticity and the complementing and Agmon's conditions, and investigate their implications for elliptic estimates, coercivity in the variational formulation, Fredholm properties, solvability, and others. Related systems are also discussed.
Finally, we find closed-form expressions for the complementing and Agmon's conditions in the 2-dimensional case of isotropic elasticity.
