UT Darwin Day Teaching Evolution workshop


The UT Departments of Science Education and Ecology & Evolutionary Biology are proud to announce the opening of registration for the Darwin Day's "Teacher's Workshop for Teaching Evolution" to be held from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 8th at NIMBioS(National Institute for Mathematical and Biological Synthesis) on the UT campus.

This workshop will bring together a diverse group of UTK professors and Tennessee science teachers to explore innovative methods for teaching evolution through the following activities:
  • Panel discussion with UTK professors, veteran science teachers, and special guests
  • Group activities that include lesson plan implementation and dealing with controversies in the classroom
  • Teachers will have the opportunity to trade lesson plans and useful websites for teaching evolution
  • Hands on experience with the Biology in a Box lesson modules developed at UTK
  • Professor talk on expectations of biological knowledge for incoming college students
