Dr. Jackie Smith, Sociology Guest Speaker

Dr. Jackie Smith (PhD, Notre Dame, 1996) will present "Social Movements and Political Moments: Exploring Logics and Connections of Global Justice Movements and Post-2010 Global Uprisings" at a special Sociology Colloquium.

Dr. Jackie Smith is a Professor of Sociology and Director of Graduate Studies at the University of Pittsburgh.  Her most recent book (co-authored with Dawn Wiest) is Social Movements in the World-System: The Politics of Crisis and Transformation. Dr. Smith's current research focuses on the World Social Forum process and larger global justice movement. She is also the Editor of the Journal of World-Systems Research.
