Black History Month Gala and African American Image Awards

The Black Cultural Programmning Committee (BCPC), Diva Opals and The Kappa Chi chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated cordially invite you to Faces of Culture, Facets of Excellence.

CPC will host a Black History Month Gala in collaboration with Diva Opals' and The Kappa Chi chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated's 8th Annual African-American Image Awards at University Center Ballroom on Friday, February 28, 2014 at 7:00 PM with an opening reception at 6:30 PM.

As Black History Month comes to a close, BCPC, Diva Opals, and The Kappa Chi chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated seeks to acknowledge the accomplishments and achievements of students of color.The theme of this year's Gala and Image Awards is Faces of Culture, Facets of Excellence. The Black History Month Gala will feature a keynote address by Diane Nash, one of the pioneers of the Civil Rights Movement.

Diane Nash helped form the Nashville Student Movement, which aimed to desegregate the city's lunch counters, and coordinated the Freedom Ride from Birmingham, Alabama, to Jackson, Mississippi. Most recently, her work was featured in the PBS American Experience film Freedom Riders.
