Marriage and Family in Biblical Law

This seminar will be led by Dr. Erin Darby and Dr. Raphe Panitz. The session will explore marriage and adoption in the ancient Near East and the Hebrew Bible/Old Testament. Texts will be studied from an academic persepctive with the goal of understanding how these laws functioned in the time periods in which they were written and how they compare to modern Tennessee law.

This program is sponsored by UT and the Knoxville Jewish Alliance, and is made possible through a 2013 UT Knoxville Outeach Incentive Grant. The UT/KJA seminar is free and open to the public. Community members, regardless of faith, creed, or religion, are encouraged to attend.
