Bazinga!, an EECS Building Party

On Tuesday, August 19th, Systers: Women in EECS @ UTK (Systers) will host their second annual Bazinga!, an EECS building party, to welcome students back for the fall semester.

Systers members invite all interested and curious parties to their upcoming event in the Min Kao Building. Even though they have had their fair share of media attention, Systers is a new student organization and is still working to get their name out there.

Their mission is to recruit, mentor, and retain women in computer science and electrical engineering. Systers is proud of their accomplishments so far: mentoring young women entering EECS, reaching out to girls in the community to tell them about opportunities in our field, and helping ensure that talented students have access to our department's resources and our community's industry opportunities, regardless of gender.

With Bazinga!, Systers reaches out to the student body, inviting them to the Min H. Kao Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Building for games, food, and exploration. Current EECS students answer new students' questions, professors demonstrate their research, and students and businesses exchange ideas and inspiration.

At Bazinga!,

  • New students find a fun and friendly environment to start thinking about research and industry opportunities they'll find in this exciting field,

  • Current students experience the satisfaction of introducing computing and electrical engineering to new students, and

  • East Tennessee's top employers of EECS talent connect with UTK's best and brightest -- whether they're current students who've proven themselves or prospective students who have yet to discover what they can do.

Last year's Bazinga! was the kickoff event for Systers, and it was a huge success.  Over 375 students attended. They're looking forward to an even bigger event this year with prizes like a Wii U, a Kindle Fire, a Garmin Vivofit, and many more!

The free lunch will start at 11am and the raffle will begin at 3:45pm! To earn extra free tickets, please RSVP at systers.eecs.utk.edu/RSVP.
