    Dr Eurídice Silva Filho
Dr Silva has been the best teacher/professor/guide/communicator/academician/educator/mentor I have ever-ever had. My second concentration is Portuguese because he motivates students to fall in love with the language, so you start taking the class as a ‘requirement’ of a language credit and then fall in love with Portuguese -language, culture, music, film, literature, arts, history, politics , and the unique and gorgeous Brazil- and then wind up enrolling in a Port. course every semester. You better not be absent to any class, or you will miss a whole adventure of really cool knowledge. Dr Silva, obrigado pela qualidade do ensino que você tem para nós.

In addition when I had her class the next semester, it was one of the few up to that point that really made me step outside of something I was used to (my decision making processes) and gave me more tools in order to fit any situation. I can honestly say without her I wouldn't be where I am now, so thanks Dr. Smith!

Dr. Gillis is an amazing professor and mentor. He challenges his students to think critically and encourages them to ask questions. While he expects a lot from his students, he creates an environment in this classroom with his lectures and discussions that promotes learning, not merely memorization of historical facts and dates but understanding of events and people. Overall, I can honestly say that his courses and guidance improved my experience at UT and changed my goals for the future.

Thank you!!!

I would like to thank Mr. Graham for just being a excellent machinist/millwright, and not a stuffy high minded academic like most of the self important faculty at UT. He will gladly take time to answer questions and doesn't try to prove how smart he is with his answers. I wish I could say the same for most UT professors, but sadly I can't. Pellissippi was built for teaching students, UT is designed around sucking them dry. Thank you Mr. Graham for imparting useful knowledge to the Engineering students of UT.

Wow, I was a little scared of him at first. We had a first paper due and scared was I. So we met together about my paper and also in class i mentioned that I could not critical think. so before he even looked at my paper he took the back and asked what i thought or how did I connect to Pamela the book. I really connected to her. Anyway he did not scare me at all. He taught me what maybe I should write. Also how I connected with Pamela. I love this teachers class so much for he wants us to talk as well. I don't feel like I understand what others are saying but really try by asking questions and he answers all questions. He is very relaxed around us and an easy environment to learn. I say thank you for being calm and gentle about my paper. You are one great professor...TTYL

She taught me how to at least start a paper and find analytical thinking. Also during that semester my husband died and she gave me so much care and believed I needed to be in school to keep my mind off of everything. She also would go through my papers and tell me what was okay to keep and what to get rid of. I don't think I got above a B on papers but that was good for me and thank you for her. She is a great teacher and if anyone wants to have a great fun, take this professor for what ever lit paper you need. She was always there with my drafts and took her time with me. I won't ever forget her. Her class room is so much participation in it. I loved to talk aloud and give my opinions. She would give us something to talk about and all people just start talking. Great teacher

I am scared of writing papers and he sat down with me for about 30 minutes and did it gently and taught me how I connected to a book we read. I am slowly but surely learning how to critical think. I told him this at the beginning of the semester that I could not critical think. Please teach me and we have a paper due and he taught me before he even looked at my paper he asked how I connected to the book and it was amazing some of the things I said out loud and he wrote what I said and there in front of me was some critical thinking.

Thank you Dr. Susan Speraw for helping me catch a vision of how this program will enable me to be more fully prepared to meet the needs of others in the global community. Thank you as well for being my cheerleader in times of struggle. Likewise, thank you for the times that you have let so many of us, as students, know that we are appreciated by you. You are, and continue to be, an inspiration.

To know you is to admire you. It is for those who’ve not made your acquaintance, I relay the following message: Countless obstacles and twisty-turns never detained my hero. She tirelessly fought to preserve my sanity. Patiently she guided the great exploration of student “confidence”. But, did she know that while we were investigating strategies to help future students succeed in their endeavors; I gained “confidence” of my own? I am blessed to have such a caring and selfless friend. Thank you, Dr. Schussler.

Despite moving from 1,000 miles away, and having to teach from hotel rooms from several different countries and time zones while she attended conferences, she has managed to teach an excellent class, and with enthusiasm! Most importantly, she has always made time for her students. Thanks Prof. Hank - and welcome to Tennessee!!

Truly one of the best professors I've had at UT.
