Strengthening Relations with China

Three universities. Twelve days. One important mission.

A delegation of administrators and faculty members from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville recently visited three Chinese universities to talk about ways the schools could increase their interaction.

The UT delegation --  led by Vice Chancellor Timothy Rogers and Yang Zhong, interim director of the Center for International Education -- visited Tsinghua University in Beijing, Shanghai University, Sichuan University between June 10-21, 2007.

The UT group was well-received at all three Chinese universities, and had fruitful discussions with their Chinese counterparts on scholarly exchanges and collaborations, UT study abroad programs in China, and staff exchanges. They also learned a lot about Chinese higher education system and universities.

UT officials agree that the visits strengthened UT's relations with the three Chinese universities.
