Grades: Incoming 10th - 12th graders. Previous architecture or design experience is not necessary. Curiosity is the sole pre-requisite.
Design Matters offers motivated high school students an introduction to the design of the built environment and the considerations that shape it. The setting, curriculum and instruction provide the experience of life as a design student on a university campus for one week. Camp includes workshops, field visits, social and cultural activities and a public exhibition of work completed throughout the week.

STC Transportation Week

Grades: Incoming high school juniors and seniors
Transportation Week is sponsored and organized by the Southeastern Transportation Center, a program of the Center for Transportation Research at the University of Tennessee. This weeklong program exposes participants to various aspects of the transportation industry, including highways, airports, and railroads. Students will learn about some fascinating areas of transportation – traffic accident reconstruction, roadway design, computer simulations, ways to move goods and people, and more. The program uses a combination of field trips to area transportation facilities, guest speakers, and hands-on activities to illustrate the impact of transportation on our daily activities. Participants will also spend a full day on a ropes course to build team skills and, most importantly, to have fun
