Baker Scholars
Not every honors program is associated with a specific college or department. The Baker Scholars Program, sponsored by the Howard H. Baker Center for Public Policy, is UT's most notable "freestanding" honors program. Baker Scholars are a highly selective group of students brought together, not by a particular academic major, but by their common interest in the public life of the nation and its role in the global community. Baker Scholars have the opportunity to hear and meet national and international leaders at events held on campus throughout the year and to become involved in research projects conducted by the Center. As the new Baker Center symbolizes, distinctive honors programs and opportunities are on the rise at UT.
