Ready for the World

Student life abroad.  Appalachian culture.  Film nights at the International House.  Service learning among Spanish-language immigrants.  Religious studies in Peru, engineering in Scotland, staffing a high-need medical clinic in Knoxville Public Schools.  Learning a second language.  Studying globalization.  Teaching a second language.  Understanding the complexity of every locale.

Honors students help make the University of Tennessee world-renowned.  They are ambassadors during their international study, while at home they lead the way in making the Knoxville campus diverse and stimulating.  Honors students recognize the vital importance of international and intercultural learning, which they realize in practice as essential to the quality of their undergraduate experience.

Past honors study abroad experiences include a course addressing the history of the university on-site in London, Oxford, and Cambridge; teaching English as a second language at Beijing’s Tsinghua University; filming a religious group at work in Lima, Peru; and studying chemical engineering in Scotland’s distillery industry.
