Research Centers of Excellence |

|
In 2000, the University of Tennessee created nine Research Centers of Excellence (RCE) in a competitive process to select the strongest, most promising research at the university. With financial support from the state of Tennessee, the nine centers have created vital research programs that promise to enhance the university's teaching and research and to contribute positively to the state economy. The program has broadened understanding about research activity throughout the University of Tennessee, and has greatly increased externally funded research collaborations. An internal committee reviews these centers annually and continued funding is based on achievement of metrics. The University of Tennessee system has nine Research Centers of Excellence: Center for Information Technology Research
