Course Offerings
When you attend summer school before your freshman year you will typically take two classes in one of the following combinations:
- Math + English
- Math + Social Science
- English + Social Science
- Two Social Sciences
These combinations are tailored to provide balance in the type of work that will be expected of you, both in summer school and during the remainder of your college career. Your advisor will help you determine the best course combination for you during your Orientation advising session.
While the exact classes you take will be determined by your intended major and any AP credits you may have, the typical classes offered are:
- Math: 113, 115, 119, 123, and 125
- English: 101, 102
- First-Year Studies 101
- Social Sciences: Africana Studies 201 and 202, Anthropology 130, Geography 101, Political Science 101 and 102, Psychology 110 and 117, Sociology 110 and 120, and Child and Family Studies 210 and 220
Taking these lower-level courses during the summer school will help you get a jump on your General Education requirement.
