Valid UT Student IDs Required At Ticket Gate

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Fans heading for the East Carolina-Tennessee football game need to be aware that procedures for admission to the game with a student ticket have changed at Neyland Stadium.

An electronic process for verifying student identification cards will be used at student ticket gates this fall, and admission with a student ticket will require presentation of a current, valid UT-Knoxville student ID card.

“The University of Tennessee wants to ensure this message reaches visiting football fans who may arrive at the campus without tickets,” said Tim Rogers, dean of students.

Fans using student tickets will not be admitted to the stadium if they do not have a valid ID, Rogers said.

“Our campus has moved to a new student accounting system incorporating, for many purposes, electronic validation of student ID cards. This replaces our former procedure of physically observing student IDs.”

Effective immediately as a student ticket is presented, the student’s ID card will be passed through an electronic reader to verify current status for use of student tickets, Rogers said.

“Once validated, the ID will allow the holder’s student ticket to be presented for admission. If not (validated), the individual will not be admitted to the game with that ticket,” Rogers said. Persons presenting student tickets without an ID will be refused admission.

The new electronic verification process will be used at all seven home games for the Volunteers, beginning with the Sept. 2 game against East Carolina.
