KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A retired Knoxville architect has created a faculty enrichment fund at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville.

Carl F. Maples’ endowment will allow faculty in the School of Architecture to pursue special studies and creative work, said Marleen Davis, dean of the College of Architecture and Planning.

“Faculty need time to refresh their own learning. This fund will rejuvenate their teaching and add to students’ educational experiences,” Davis said Monday.

The endowment gift is part of UT’s 21st Century Campaign. Maples, who has served on UT’s Development Council, was co-founder of Lindsay and Maples Architects. He established an architecture endowment to support international alliances a decade ago.
