East Tennessee Dogwoods Will Bloom Week Late (80)
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — East Tennessee’s dogwood trees ordinarily bloom April 7-13, but a University of Tennessee agricultural extension leader said Thursday they’re a bit late this year.
“Cold weather held the dogwoods back, and they went into the winter under stress from the dry weather last year,” Harry Bryan of UT’s Agricultural Extension Service said.
“The earth is warm, and the buds want to come (out). If the warm weather continues, I think there’ll be a lot of color (on the trees) soon.”
