UT Transportation Director To Head National Group

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The director of the University of Tennessee Transportation Center is the new head of a national transportation research organization.

Dr. Stephen Richards was named president of the Council of University Transportation Centers at the group’s recent meeting in Gainesville, Fla. He’ll serve one year.

Richards is scheduled to testify on transportation research issues before Congress later this year.

CUTC includes 53 academic centers which promote transportation research, education and technology transfer at major U.S. colleges and universities.

The council also provides academic input into federal legislation and national programs which affect transportation.
