UT Civil Engineering Team 2nd In Regional Competition (95)
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A University of Tennessee-Knoxville student engineering team placed second overall in a recent American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Southeast Region competition.
Dr. Karen Chou, UT-Knoxville associate professor of civil engineering and team adviser, said the team placed first in two categories of the competition: balsa wood bridge and surveying.
University of Florida was first in overall team standings. There were 11 categories in the competition, which attracted teams from 20 universities to Orlando, Fla.
UT team sponsors included the local ASCE, UT-Knoxville engineering alumni, the state Department of Transportation and seeral area industrial firms.
