KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Designs for a low cost, energy efficient home were presented Tuesday to Chattanooga Neighborhood Enterprises by architecture students from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville.

 Marleen Davis, dean of the College of Architecture and Planning, said 15 students presented five design alternatives to the neighborhood organization.

Architecture Professor David Fox developed the semester-long design project with Leigh Ferguson and Frank Green of CNE, Davis said.

 Fox said he hoped one of the designs would earn CNE’s approval, followed next year by construction of the home in the Fort Negley-Rustville area of Chattanooga.

 ”Working with the neighborhood organization was a rewarding experience for the students,” Fox said. “Given the many constraints, the resulting designs were excellent.”
