CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — A technology fee increase at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga was among recommendations approved Thursday by committees of the UT Board of Trustees.

Officials said the increase, from $15 to $100 per semester, would permit improved student access to computer technology.

The fee increase, approved by the finance committee, would generate approximately $1.2 million in additional revenue starting this fall. Students at UT-Knoxville and UT-Martin already pay the $100 per semester fee.

In other action, the health affairs committee gave approval for UT officials to seek start-up funding from the state for a women’s health center in Memphis. The academic affairs committee approved creation of a master’s program in physical therapy at UT-Chattanooga.

All three measures are scheduled for consideration by the full board on Friday.
