KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Bridget Renae Parton, daughter of Calvin and Patsy Parton of Seymour, earned the academic honor summa cum laude at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville for the spring 1998 term.

Parton, a sophomore majoring in speech pathology, was a 1997 graduate of Heritage High School.

Students whose grade point averages are 3.8 through 4.0 earn summa cum laude honors, those who make 3.65 through 3.79 earn magna cum laude, and those with averages of 3.5 through 3.64 earn cum laude.
