TULLAHOMA, Tenn. – Dr. Chris Barret, graduate of the University of Tennessee Space Institute, has been presented an Alabama technical society’s engineer of the year award.

Barret, who earned master’s and doctoral degrees from UTSI, received the award from the North Alabama chapter of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics.

She is with NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center and won the award for her work on the Bantam rocket booster, a low-cost launch system.
