Dr. Dale D. Ensor, professor of chemistry and director of the environmental sciences doctorate program at Tennessee Technological University will present a lecture, at 7 p.m., Feb. 3, in Room 318 of the Joseph E. Johnson Engineering and Physical Sciences Building on the University of Tennessee at Martin campus.

Ensor, a guest speaker for the Student Affiliates of the American Chemical Society (SAACS), will lecture on the detection of radioactivity in the environment.

A visiting scientist at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Argonne National Laboratory and Los Alamos National Laboratory, Ensor is the recipient of more than $850,00 in contracts and grants from federal and private agencies.

His most recent funded projects include -Investigation of Metal Ion Leaching from Waste Tank Simulants,- funded by Oak Ridge National Laboratory; -Basic Solvent Extraction Studies- funded by Los Alamos National Laboratory; and -The Development of a Total Alpha Assay in Natural and Waste Water,- funded from the PR Research Foundation.

Ensor recently received a Course, Curriculum and Laboratory Improvement Grant from the National Science Foundation to purchase a liquid scintillation spectrometer.

Ensor earned his doctorate in inorganic and radiochemistry from Florida State University in 1977.
