KNOXVILLE — A Pulitzer Prize-winning science writer for the New York Times will lecture at the University of Tennessee Feb. 28 on the history of science journalism.

John Noble Wilford will speak on “Science Journalism Across Two Centuries” at 8 p.m. in the University Center Shiloh Room. The event, the annual Hill Lecture on Science, Society and the Mass Media, is sponsored by the UT School of Journalism and is free to the public.

Wilford has won two Pulitzers for his science reporting and also has reported for Time and the Wall Street Journal. He has written or edited eight books, including “The Mapmakers” and “Mars Beckons.” He graduated from UT with a B.S. in journalism in 1955.

The lecture series honors Alfred and Julia Hill, founders of the Oak Ridger newspaper. The lectures were endowed by their children, Tom Hill and Mary Frances Hill Holton.
