BWXT Y-12 Establishes UT Engineering Scholarship
KNOXVILLE — BWXT Y-12 has established a permanent endowment scholarship at the University of Tennessee College of Engineering.
The endowed scholarship will support engineering educational opportunities at the university by providing an annual scholarship for a UT engineering student.

The partnership arrangement was highlighted Tuesday in a ceremony at the university. Dr. Loren Crabtree, Chancellor; Dr. Way Kuo, Engineering Dean; and Dennis Ruddy, president and general manager of BWXT Y-12 were speakers at the event.
“This scholarship program instills a motivating influence, and both students and the company will benefit,” Ruddy said.
Cathy Dodge, UT engineering development director, said, “We are very pleased with BWXT Y-12′s level of involvement in supporting our college and our students.
“This gift will help students for years to come and strengthens the partnership between UT and BWXT Y-12.”
Through the scholarship program, the company hopes to attract and retain engineering graduates to the Y-12 National Security Complex to help it
maintain its capability to meet its national security missions.
BWXT Y-12, a partnership between BWX Technologies Inc. and Bechtel National Inc., operates the Y-12 National Security Complex for the National Nuclear
Security Administration.
BWXT Y-12′s goal is the safe and efficient operation of the Y-12 complex while modernizing the facilities to ensure the long-term capability to meet national security missions.
