KNOXVILLE — University of Tennessee associate professor of journalism and electronic media, Dr. Mark D. Harmon, has won the 2004 Stanton Fellow Award.

The International Radio & Television Society Foundation presents the annual award to acknowledge exceptional achievements in the electronic media education field.

Harmon will be recognized this weekend at the IRTS Faculty/Industry Seminar in New York City.

In addition to teaching courses in broadcast news and communication theory, Harmon has worked as a TV news producer, host of a radio news interview program, and a radio reporter.

Harmon is the author of 20 refereed research articles and has had guest columns published in numerous periodicals, including the Chronicle of Higher Education.

The Stanton Fellow Award carries the name of Dr. Frank Stanton, president of CBS from 1946 to 1973.
