KNOXVILLE — The University of Tennessee-s Black Cultural Programming Committee will host a noted African-American psychologist at 7 p.m. March 16, in the Carolyn P. Brown Memorial University Center Auditorium.

Dr. Na-im Akbar-s work focuses on the African-American community and is best known for his significant contributions to the scholarly understanding of African and African-American people in their environments.

Akbar is the author of numerous books, including -The Community Self,- -Breaking the Chains of Psychological Slavery,- and -Vision for Black Men.- His works are required reading for many college students in psychology and African-American studies courses.

A book signing and reception will follow Akbar-s lecture. Admission for the event is free and open to the public.
