KNOXVILLE — The Knox County chapter of the University of Tennessee National Alumni Association will host an evening with Howard Baker Jr. at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 2, at the Alumni Memorial Building’s Cox Auditorium on UT’s campus.

The admission fee for the event is $5 and is open to the general public. Parking is available in the University Center garage.

Baker, one of UT’s most revered alumni, will discuss his experiences in government and his perspective on U.S. history, the present state of the country and the future of the nation.

The former U.S. senator, White House chief of staff and U.S. Ambassador to Japan has played roles in some of the most memorable political events of the last half-century and has left a legacy of respect and bi-partisan negotiation in Washington, D.C.

UT’s Howard H. Baker Jr. Center for Public Policy, which opened in 2003, is a non-partisan center dedicated to creating a better understanding of government and fostering a greater appreciation for the importance of public service. The center offers programs for students, teachers and the public, and houses a collection of political papers.
