KNOXVILLE — University of Tennessee students will perform in the annual All-Sing choral music competition at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, and at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, in the Cox Auditorium in Alumni Memorial Building.

All-Sing began as a campus tradition in 1932 when it was known as “Song-Fest,” a singing competition initiated by the Young Men’s Christian Association and the All Students’ Club.

This year, 17 groups will perform familiar songs from plays and movies such as “Mama Mia,” “West Side Story,” “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” and “Oklahoma.” Awards will be given for best male and female soloist as well as divisional and overall awards.

Now sponsored by the All Campus Events (ACE) committee, Student organizations participating in All-Sing can earn points that go toward the ACE Cup. Points are also earned through Homecoming activities; Volunteer Challenge, a community service competition; and Carnicus, a singing, dancing and acting competition. The cup is awarded at the end of the academic year to the student organization with the most points.

All-Sing tickets for students with a UT ID are $8 and $15 for the general public. They are on sale at the University Center’s Central Ticket Office at 974-3381 and Tickets Unlimited at 656-4444.

ACE is one of seven committees that comprise the Central Program Committee (CPC). Each year ACE brings campus-wide programs to UT that have become long-standing traditions among students. CPC brings more than 150 student programming opportunities each year.
