Farr is Outstanding Alum
Glen Farr loves his job with the UT College of Pharmacy in Knoxville, and apparently the feeling is reciprocated. The college will honor Farr with its Outstanding Alumni Award on Oct. 26.
The presentation will be made at the College of Pharmacy alumni awards luncheon at the Knoxville Marriott.
"It is rare to be able to do what you want to do, where you want to do it," Farr said of his UT career. The award "is indeed an honor."
As associate dean of continuing education and public service and professor of clinical pharmacy, Farr is responsible for all UT pharmacy continuing education throughout the U.S. and the world. He also teaches pharmacy students at the Knoxville campus and nursing pharmacology courses in the UT Knoxville College of Nursing.
Farr has been with the university 34 years.
The Alcoa, Tenn., native is a former president of the Tennessee Pharmaceutical Association and was the 1983 Tennessee pharmacist of the year. The UT National Alumni Association honored him in 2002 for his teaching.
Farr attended UT Knoxville from 1967 to 1969 and received his pharmacy degree in 1973. He is a competitive runner, competing in all 30 of the Knoxville Expo 10K races as well as finishing more than 10 marathons. His wife, Kathy (education ‘71) is a teacher at Bonny Kate School in Knoxville, and both their sons are UT graduates.
