Baker Center, Others Hold Voter Registration Drive Dec. 7

KNOXVILLE –- The University of Tennessee’s Howard H. Baker Jr. Center for Public Policy, along with the UT chapter of the NAACP, Baker Scholars, the Baker Center Learning Community and the Knox County Election Commission will hold a voter registration drive on Market Square in downtown Knoxville on Dec. 7.

The booth will be open from 4 to 7 p.m. by the entrance of the ice skating rink.

Community members, students, faculty and staff are encouraged to visit the booth to register to vote and learn about upcoming election dates and deadlines. Visitors also will be invited to practice on the new electronic voting machines provided by the Knox County Election Commission.

The Baker Center is a nonpartisan center that develops educational programs and promotes research to further the public’s understanding and knowledge of our system of governance, critical public policy issues and the importance of public service and civic engagement. The center embodies a genuine respect for differing points of view, and it serves as a forum for discussion, debate, education and research.
