Ewing Gallery Celebrates 25th Anniversary of Artist Program; UT Artist-in-Residence Munro Galloway Teaches Painting
KNOXVILLE — The Ewing Gallery at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, is marking the 25th anniversary of the School of Art’s artist-in-residence program with an exhibit of works by former and current resident artists.
The 2008 Artist-in-Residence Biennial opens Jan. 13 and runs through Feb. 10. The exhibit features works by New York City-based painters Jessica Dickinson, Wallace Whitney, Jeff Gauntt and Munro Galloway.
An exhibition reception will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Jan. 13, and all four artists will be present.
Galloway is serving as the artist-in-residence this spring at UT. He will teach classes in drawing and painting.
Galloway will present a slide show and lecture in conjunction with the exhibit at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 31 in the Art + Architecture Building, Room 109.
Galloway’s art in the exhibit includes more than 100 paintings from “Green River,” a collection of pieces Galloway painted every day for over a year.

Galloway exhibits his work at the prestigious Murray Guy Gallery in Manhattan.
